ToolBelt is the #1 job platform for residential skilled labor. ToolBelt’s vast database consists of crews (licensed crews in all trades looking for additional labor and consistent new work) and tradespeople (skilled tradespeople seeking both full-time and part-time work opportunities).

Note: ToolBelt jobs are only available to CareerPlug clients who purchase the ToolBelt integration.

  • Access to Active Construction Talent
    • Jobs are shown directly to construction professionals (tradespeople, licensed contractors and sub crews) already using the ToolBelt platform.
    • Unlike job boards, ToolBelt focuses specifically on construction trades.
  • Two Streams of Candidates
    • Organic Applicants: Contractors find your job posting on ToolBelt, apply, and often call or text you right away. Applicants will appear in your CareerPlug account.
    • Matched Candidates: ToolBelt technology proactively finds high-quality candidates in your trade and location and delivers them to your CareerPlug account even if they haven’t applied.
  • Direct Communication
    • Cuts out wasted time waiting for email replies or back-and-forth scheduling.
  • Faster Hiring
    • Many employers report connecting with candidates and getting them on-site within days, not weeks.
    • Posting through ToolBelt makes it easy to fill urgent labor needs.
  • Job Visibility Beyond Just the Posting
    • Applicants can view details such as the scope of work, pay, location, and qualifications.
    • ToolBelt encourages candidates to apply and reach out to you directly, increasing your chances of a quick hire.
  • Scalable for Multiple Roles or Crews
    • Post jobs for tradespeople, licensed contractors, or full crews.
    • Recruit both W2 employees and 1099 independent contractors.
    • Helps both small businesses and larger contractors fill gaps in their workforce.
  • Efficient Hiring Process
    • All applicants appear in your CareerPlug account.
    • You can prioritize roles, track applicant flow, and manage outreach all from one place.
    • You get access to a contractor's profile instead of a traditional resume, which includes the contractor's work radius (area), their capacity (# of crews available), licensing information, a list of their trades, and a gallery of their previous work.

👉 In short: Posting to ToolBelt gives you a construction-focused talent pool, direct applicant communication, and faster, more efficient hiring compared to job boards.

How do I post jobs to ToolBelt?

In order to post jobs to ToolBelt, you need to purchase and enable the ToolBelt integration.

1. Sign into CareerPlug.

2. Navigate to Settings (gear icon) > Integrations > ToolBelt.

3. Add the integration to your account.

CareerPlug's ToolBelt integration costs $149/month. It is a month-to-month subscription, which means you can turn it on/off as needed.

Once you've purchased the integration, unique ToolBelt job templates will be automatically added to your CareerPlug account.

When you post a job using a ToolBelt job template, CareerPlug will send the job to ToolBelt, where it will be shared and promoted to ToolBelt’s database of crews and tradespeople.

Note: Only job templates that begin with "ToolBelt:" will be sent to ToolBelt. You can edit these templates, but we recommend not changing the job title. Even with the ToolBelt integration enabled, you can still post jobs using preexisting job templates or create new job postings that will be sent to our partner job boards.

Why is a ToolBelt candidate calling or texting me before I contact them?

ToolBelt has a unique feature that allows candidates to call or text you immediately after they apply for your job. This empowers candidates to reach out to you ahead of you contacting them. This is intended to speed up your hiring process, so be prepared for candidates to contact you shortly after you’ve posted a ToolBelt job via CareerPlug.

How many jobs can I post on ToolBelt?

With ToolBelt, you can post an unlimited number of jobs.

That means you can:

  • Post as many open roles as your organization needs—whether for field crews, licensed contractors, or W2 tradespeople.
  • Reach candidates on both the ToolBelt platform of skilled tradespeople and our partner job boards (for office and management roles).
  • Keep jobs live as long as you need without worrying about posting limits. However, it's a best practice to close job posts after 30 days and create a new post (after at least 24 hours) to maintain visibility on ToolBelt.

How do I set up a ToolBelt job template?

Your ToolBelt job templates include job titles and job descriptions specifically designed to attract ToolBelt candidates. We recommend not editing the job title or removing any details from the job description of your ToolBelt job templates, but you can add additional information.

Prescreen Questions

Your ToolBelt job templates don't include prescreen questions by default. Do not add prescreen questions to your jobs because ToolBelt applicants don't have the ability to answer prescreen questions.
