Smart Suggestions help you optimize your job postings after creation by providing relevant, lifecycle-based suggestions. Designed to give you tailored recommendations, Smart Suggestions can help make your job postings as attractive as possible to job seekers and guide you to follow best practices. Smart Suggestions can be found in two areas of your account: when editing a job posting and, now, on your Jobs page.

What do we suggest?

Built from job board best practices and data-driven insights, Smart Suggestions will recommend improvements to your jobs that align with our effective job posting criteria, like including the salary, desired experience, and benefits with any job posting. Smart Suggestions highlighted on your Jobs page are some of the same Suggestions you'll see when creating and editing your jobs.

What are some specific examples of Smart Suggestions?

• "Select at least three benefits."
  • This suggestion appears when you have not added benefits to your job posting.
  • To address this, click the Edit Job button, scroll down the Job Posting tab and add at least three Benefits to your job, and click the Update Job Post button to save your changes.
• "Turn on Team Referrals to keep your employees updated about jobs they can refer candidates to."
  • This suggestion appears when you have not set up the Referral Reminder Email.
  • To address this, click the Turn on referral button to be redirected to your Referral Settings page (with the the Referral & Incentive Settings drawer already open). Set up your Referral Reminder Email and click the Save Changes button when you're finished to keep your employees informed about any active jobs they can refer candidates to.
• "Share the job."
  • This suggestion appears whenever your job is active and posted. If you've already optimized your job posting according to our other Smart Suggestions, the best way to promote your job is to share your posting to custom sources.
  • To address this, click the Share button to open the Share Job pop-up, then click one of the available tiles to select a method or destination for your job posting (e.g., via QR code or on social media).
• "This job may not be visible on all job boards. Are you still hiring?"
  • This suggestion appears when an active job has been posted for 90+ days.
  • To address this, click the Yes button to refresh your job posting if you're still hiring. If you're done hiring for this role, click the No, Close the Job button to close your job.

When do Smart Suggestions show up?

Our Smart Suggestions are tailored to the 90-day lifecycle of your job. As your job posting ages or you make changes to it, we'll update our Smart Suggestions to help you stimulate applicant interest. This means Smart Suggestions in the first two weeks can be different from the next two weeks. When there's more than one Smart Suggestion, you can scroll through them using the arrow on the right edge of the highlight box.

When your job posting approaches the end of its 90-day lifecycle, we'll ask, "Are you still hiring?" You'll then be prompted to either Close the Job posting if you've made your hire or keep it open.

We'll also acknowledge when your job post follows all of our given Smart Suggestions and let you know we don't have any more for the moment. If you have no Smart Suggestions but would like tips on optimizing your job postings, schedule some time with a CareerPlug Consultant!
