Where to send an interested candidate to apply to one of your jobs

When you have a candidate interested in applying for an open position at your company, send them to your branded careers page!

Your careers page is often the first point of contact for applicants. It’s a landing page where you can direct applicants to learn more about your company and apply for your open positions.

In this article:

Where do I find the link to my careers page?

You can find the link to your careers page by clicking the Careers Page button in the top right corner of your dashboard.

You can also find your careers page by navigating to Settings (gear icon) > My Organization.

Settings - Careers Page (all highlights)

The link you copy will typically be in the format of [CompanyName].careerplug.com.

However, if this is your first time using your careers page and you are not part of an existing partnership, this page may be mostly blank.

Will job seekers find my open positions on my careers page?

Yes! Sending a job seeker to your careers page, instead of a specific job post, can be a great way to sell your brand and let them know about your company’s culture before they ever apply.

From your careers page, a job seeker can choose to search for a specific open position near them, or select Show Me All Jobs to see every open job you have posted.

While the color of the Find Jobs button will change depending on the colors you set when configuring your careers page, this is what it will look like to a job seeker:

Job seekers can use either the available search fields or the Show Me All Jobs link to see your open positions, including future opportunities and passive job postings that are exclusively available on your careers page.

Can I send a candidate a specific job from my careers page?

If you are looking to send just a single job to a job seeker, you have a few options.

From your Jobs page, click the three-dots icon to the right of whichever job you want to share and select Share from the drop-down menu.

The Share Jobs pop-up window gives you several options for sharing an individual job:

  • You can email candidates the link to an individual job directly from your CareerPlug account by clicking the Email This Job tile.
  • You can copy the direct link to an individual job by clicking the Share Link to This Job tile, which you can send to any candidates you think would be a great fit.

How do job seekers find my careers page if I don’t send them the link directly?

Your careers page shouldn’t live in a void. Instead, share it at every available opportunity with job seekers who may be a good fit for your company.

CareerPlug offers several powerful tools for putting your careers page in front of more job seekers.

Create a QR code to share with potential applicants

CareerPlug allows you to easily customize a “We’re Hiring” poster featuring a unique QR code that redirects job seekers to your careers page.

You can also download your QR code by itself and add it to your existing marketing materials.

Customize a "We're Hiring" poster featuring your unique QR code

CareerPlug allows you to quickly create a "We're Hiring" poster featuring your company's QR code, customize the background color, add a short message, and download it as a PDF.

You can - and should - place "We're Hiring" posters anywhere your ideal applicants might spend time. In addition to your brick-and-mortar location(s), try placing your poster at local libraries, coffee shops, community college pinboards, or even smoothie shops. This can help build brand awareness while getting you access to quality local candidates.

To customize your "We're Hiring" hiring poster, click the down arrow icon to the right of the Careers Page button on your Dashboard, then select Print Poster w/QR Code from the drop-down menu. In After you customize your poster, click the Download PDF button at the bottom of the Print Poster With QR Code drawer.

Download your unique QR code to add to your branded marketing materials

If you'd rather download a digital copy of your company's QR code to add to your branded marketing materials, you can do so from the same place where you customize your "We're Hiring" poster.

With a digital QR code, you can add it to stickers, magnets, and even your business card or job fair handouts.

To download your digital QR code, click the down arrow icon to the right of the Careers Page button on your Dashboard, then select Print Poster w/QR Code from the drop-down menu. Click the SVG or PNG link at the bottom of the Print Poster With QR Code drawer.

Use text-to-apply to engage mobile applicants

Text-to-apply works similarly to a QR code (redirecting job seekers to your careers page) and has produced great results for recruiting. In fact, 56.5% of applicants who apply via text-to-apply become first interview candidates, with 10.7% of those converting to a hire (compared to just 0.82% of all other sources).

Like your QR code, each CareerPlug account has a unique text-to-apply code and number.

To find your account’s text-to-apply code and number, navigate to your Jobs page. Click the three-dots icon next to any of your open jobs, and select Share from the drop-down menu. In the Share Jobs pop-up, click the Share "Text to Apply" Code tile, then paste your text-to-apply code and number into the message you’re sending to interested candidates.

How do I configure my careers page, and why would I want to?

Every CareerPlug account comes with a customizable careers page. Think of your careers page as a personal job board and landing page for all applicants interested in your company. This is your opportunity to sell your business and your culture to job seekers.

Your careers page should reflect what it’s like to work for your company, including information about your culture, what benefits you offer, and what employees think about working for you (i.e., testimonials). This should be the central place for all of your hiring.

If you haven’t customized your careers page yet, we highly recommend that as your first step in attracting applicants. A branded careers page helps attract qualified candidates who can see that are taking your hiring efforts seriously. It can also help weed out those who know they are not a good fit right away, saving you time and effort. Applicants who apply from your careers page are 4 times more likely to be hired than those who found your job listing on a job board.
