How do I set up MFA for my CareerPlug user profile?
Each user in CareerPlug must configure MFA settings from their My Profile page.
1. Navigate to My Profile (person icon) > Settings.
2. Click the Manage button to the right of Multi-factor Authentication.

Don't see the option to manage MFA on the Settings tab in My Profile? Contact CareerPlug Support and we can help you enable MFA for your account.
3. In the pop-up, select which method of MFA you would like to use:
4. Click the Continue button.

To enable MFA via SMS/Text Message:
5. Click the Continue button.

6. Enter the mobile phone number you want to receive authentication codes via SMS.
7. Click the Send Code button.

8. Enter the authentication code sent to your phone.
9. Click the Enable and Continue button.

Note: If you wait longer than a minute to enter your authentication code or it fails for any other reason, click the Resend code link to get a new code.
10. Click the Copy button and store your recovery codes in a secure location (such as in a password manager). Click the Download button to save a text file with your recovery codes to your computer.

Recovery codes are used when you are unable to receive an authorization code from your authenticator app. These codes cannot be retrieved again after leaving this page and each code is one-time use only.
To enable MFA via Authenticator App:
5. Download an authenticator app on your mobile phone, such as Google Authenticator or Authy.
6. Click the Continue button.

7. Scan the QR code using your authenticator app and enter the authorization code from the app in the field below the QR code.
8. Click the Enable and Continue button.

How do I sign into CareerPlug using MFA?
The next time you try to sign into CareerPlug, you'll be prompted to enter an Authentication Code along with your email and password.
If you enable MFA via SMS/Text Messaging:
Enter the Authentication Code sent to your phone after entering your email address on the initial sign in screen.

Note: If you wait longer than a minute to enter your code or it fails for any other reason, click the Click here link above the Authentication Code field to receive a text with a new code.

If you enable MFA via Authenticator App:
Enter the Authentication Code listed in your authenticator app after entering your email address on the initial sign in screen.

Note: If you want to skip entering an authentication code for 30 days after your current sign in, click the Remember this device checkbox below the Authentication Code field.

How do I change or remove MFA?
You can only set up your CareerPlug account with a single MFA method. To enable a different method — or to remove MFA altogether — you'll need to disable the MFA method you are currently using first.
1. Navigate to My Profile > Settings.
2. Click the Manage button to the right of Multi-factor Authentication.

3. Select the Disable option in the pop-up.
4. Click the Disable Multi-factor Authentication button.

How do recovery codes work?
You can use recovery codes to access your account instead of an authentication code if your phone or authenticator app is unavailable.
You'll receive your first set of 10 recovery codes when you enable MFA. We strongly recommend storing your recovery codes in a password manager for safekeeping because you will not be able to view them again in CareerPlug. You can only use each recovery code one time.
If you use all of your recovery codes or you lose them, you can always generate a new set.
To generate new recovery codes:
1. Navigate to My Profile > Settings.
2. Click the Manage button to the right of Multi-factor Authentication.

3. Select the Create new recovery codes option in the pop-up.
4. Click the Continue button.

5. Click the Copy button and store your recovery codes in a secure location (such as in a password manager). Click the Download button to save a text file with your recovery codes to your computer.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Q: Can I see my employees' MFA settings?
A: Even if you have the ability to impersonate other users in your account (i.e., if you are the account owner or an Admin user with access to employee data), you cannot see MFA settings for other users in your account.
