The Math/Verbal Aptitude assessment is a timed, 12-minute assessment with 24 questions. The assessment measures six categories (sample questions shown in parentheses):
- Math - Computation Problems (What is the missing number? 73 - 17 = 46 ?)
- Math - Number Sequences (What is the next number in the sequence? 3….9….27….81….)
- Math - Word Problems (Brian is 8 and his brother is twice his age. How old will his brother be when Brian is 11?)
- Verbal - Attention to Detail (Which pair of dates is identical? [Four sets of dates listed]
- Verbal - Logic/Reasoning (In a bike race: Julie came in ahead of Roger. Julie finished after James. David beat James but finished after Sarah. In what place did David finish?)
- Verbal - Vocabulary (How are these terms related? Collaborate: Teammate; Synonym/Antonym/Related/Unrelated)
Each category is represented by four questions in the assessment, and the questions from each category are distributed evenly throughout the assessment. Each correct answer is worth 25 points. There is no penalty for incorrect answers. There is no penalty for not finishing the assessment in the time allotted other than not receiving points for questions left unanswered.
These scores should NOT be interpreted as if they were traditional school grades/test scores. In many instances, a score of 50 or 60 may be an acceptable level for many position types (while those same scores would often indicate a failing grade by traditional school standards). We recommend that you rely on the scores of employees who perform comparable job functions to the position for which the applicant has applied. We also recommend that the hiring manager take the assessment so that he/she has a better understanding of the assessment.
