How to get Indeed's Employer Response Badge

Keeping up with every applicant might seem daunting, but increasing your responsiveness during recruitment can actually improve your ability to make the right hires for your team. Plus, Indeed now recognizes responsive employers, helping them build a positive employer reputation and making future recruiting easier.

In this article:

What is Indeed's Employer Response Badge?

Indeed offers an Employer Response Badge to employers who prove they are highly responsive to job seekers' applications. This badge appears on your Indeed job postings as a valuable endorsement that your business is highly engaged and committed to responding to applicants.

You need to maintain an Employer Response Rate above 51% to be eligible for Indeed's Employer Response Badge. Indeed's Employer Response Rate is a dynamic percentage calculated over the last 30 days and includes all responses made during the period.

How do I get Indeed's Employer Response Badge?

To get Indeed's Employer Response Badge, you must update the status of over 50% of the Indeed applications in your CareerPlug account from the last 30 days.

CareerPlug communicates these application updates to job boards via disposition data, which they use to track applicants' progress through an applicant tracking system (ATS) as the hiring process unfolds. Sharing disposition data helps improve the accuracy of matchmaking between applicants' skills and employers' requirements — connecting job seekers with opportunities and employers more closely aligned with their skills — and is required to be eligible for Indeed's Employer Response Badge.

Note: Disqualified applicants are excluded from responsive employer measures.

How does being a responsive employer make it easier to hire the right person?

In today’s competitive labor market, job seekers have many options. You’re competing for the best talent with many other companies, and being responsive can give you an advantage.

Applicants prefer responsive employers
  • Per CareerPlug's 2023 Applicant Expectations Reportspeed and consistency are most important when communicating with applicants.
    • 45%  of applicants expect to hear from employers within 2-3 days after applying for a job — the same amount of applicants prefer to be contacted by employers within 24 hours.
  • Contact all candidates — not just the ones you want to interview.
    • 51% of job seekers said they wouldn’t apply to a company again if they didn’t hear from them the first time they applied.
  • Keeping candidates in the loop shows that you respect their time and effort, making it easier for them to move on and look for other opportunities.
Protects your employer brand
  • Your employer brand is your business’s online reputation as a workplace.
    • Job seekers frequently check sites like Glassdoor and JobSage before applying to get an idea of what it’s like to work for your company.
    • Your employer brand is built through the hiring process — candidates leave reviews about their experience with your company during recruitment, not just afterward.
    • 60% of job seekers have left a review online after having a positive candidate experience.
  • A strong employer brand has a ripple effect on your entire business.
    • Taking steps to create a good candidate experience, such as being responsive and communicating promptly, can positively impact your employer brand and help you attract — and hire — more top candidates.
Keeps candidates engaged during your hiring process
  • The best candidates are looking at multiple job opportunities — if you're not quick to respond, you risk losing them to competitors.
  • Keep applicants engaged with speedy and consistent communication.
  • Become an employer of choice — proactive and responsive recruiting sets you apart from the competition.
Job boards reward responsive employers
  • Update the status of 51% or more applicants from the last 30 days to earn a Responsive Employer Badge on Indeed.
    • This badge will appear on all of your job postings, serving as a valuable advertisement to job seekers that your business is:
      • Highly engaged
      • Committed to responding to applicants on job boards and in your applicant tracking system (ATS)
      • More likely to reply to a candidate's application
