What is the CareerPlug Connector for ADP Workforce Now®?
The CareerPlug Connector for ADP Workforce Now® provides an efficient way to connect your CareerPlug account with your ADP Workforce Now account. Simply, quickly, and accurately get new hire information from CareerPlug into your ADP account via this data sync integration.

What data and fields are synced between ADP and CareerPlug?
The CareerPlug Connector pre-populates and performs new hire data syncs from your CareerPlug account into your ADP Workforce Now account.
The following fields are pre-populated and available to sync:
- First Name
- Last Name
- Gender Code*
- Birth Date
- Company Code*
- Hire Date
- Hire Reason Code*
- Onboarding Template Code*

How do I enable the integration?
Step 1: Contact CareerPlug to enable the integration
To enable the CareerPlug Connector for ADP Workforce Now®, you first need to contact CareerPlug to let us know you'd like to use the integration. You can call, email, or click the Submit A Request link in the top-right corner of this page to quickly and easily submit your request from this browser.
Step 2: Purchase the CareerPlug Connector for ADP Workforce Now® app from the ADP Marketplace
Once the integration has been enabled for your account, you must purchase the CareerPlug Connector for ADP Workforce Now® app from the ADP Marketplace.
1. In your CareerPlug account, navigate to Settings > Integrations > ADP Workforce Now and click the Copy Link icon to the right of your listed ADP Key. You'll need this for Step #5.
2. In your ADP Workforce Now account, navigate to the ADP Marketplace, search for "CareerPlug" (or visit this link), and click the CareerPlug Connector for ADP Workforce Now® tile.
3. On the app page, click the Buy Now button.
4. Click the Edit link in the yellow callout box in your Cart.
5. Paste the ADP Key you copied from CareerPlug (during Step #1) in the Additional Information pop-up and click the Save details button.
Note: If you need to change your plan type, click the Change link just above the app in your Cart. Click the Select button under whichever plan type you'd like to choose, and then click the Save Changes button in the top-right corner of the page.
6. Click the Next button in the top-right corner of the Cart page.
7. Complete all necessary details on the Billing page and click the Continue button.
8. Review your order details, agree to the ADP Marketplace's Terms of Service, and click the Complete Purchase button at the bottom of the Review and Buy page. Keep your browser page displaying the purchase confirmation open for the next section! (Consent to transfer data)
9. In your CareerPlug account, refresh the ADP Workforce Now page to verify that your CareerPlug and ADP Workforce Now accounts are connected. You should see a green Active status.
Step 3: Consent to transfer data between ADP and CareerPlug
Once you've purchased the CareerPlug app, you must consent to transfer data between your CareerPlug and ADP Workforce Now accounts.
1. Click the Manage Consent button on the purchase confirmation screen.
If you navigate away from this screen — or come back to do this later — you can manage consent by navigating to My Apps in your ADP Workforce Now account, clicking the gear icon in the top-right corner of the CareerPlug tile, and selecting Manage App from the drop-down menu. You can also navigate directly to the ADP's Consent Manager.
2. Click the Manage button to the right of the CareerPlug app.
3. Click the Allow button at the bottom of the Client Authorization pop-up to provide consent to transfer data between your CareerPlug and ADP Workforce Now accounts.
Your CareerPlug Connector for ADP Workforce Now® is ready to use!
The Workforce Now Connector can link one CareerPlug account with one ADP account. The integration works with CareerPlug accounts that have multiple locations but share a single ADP account across all locations. However, it is incompatible with CareerPlug accounts with multiple locations that each have a distinct ADP account.
How do I export an employee to ADP from CareerPlug?
Note: If you try to export an employee's information without an active Applicant Onboard template in your ADP account, CareerPlug will prompt you to configure a template before you can complete the export. In ADP, copy an existing custom template, name it "Applicant Onboard," and use it with the CareerPlug integration (you can only use one custom template with the CareerPlug integration). Here's how to create the Applicant Onboard template in ADP.
Once you connect your accounts, exporting your employee profile/hire information from CareerPlug to ADP is simple.
1. Navigate to your Team page.
2. Click on the name of the employee whose profile/hire information you'd like to export to ADP.
3. In the employee's profile, click on the Settings tab.
4. Scroll down to the Data & Exports section and click the Preview & Export to ADP button.
5. Verify that the employee's information is correct, filling in any remaining blank fields on the export form.
6. Click the Export to ADP button in the top-right corner of the page.
7. Back in your ADP Workforce Now account, click the Process tab, and select Hire/Rehire in the HR section of the drop-down menu.
8. Click the Go to Hire button on the New Hire tile.
9. Click on the In-Progress Hires tab.
10. Find the employee you exported from CareerPlug and click the employee's name.
11. View and verify the export details, correct any issues, and click the Save and exit button.
Once you have exported an employee from CareerPlug to ADP, be sure that you edit them in ADP going forward. ADP will not reflect any changes you make to an employee in CareerPlug after you export their information.
You can export an employee's profile/hire information as often as needed.
How do I edit and sync export field options between ADP and CareerPlug?
CareerPlug will automatically sync with your ADP Workforce Now fields the first time you try to export an employee's profile/hire information, and any time you initiate an export after making any changes to your Applicant Onboard template in ADP.
However, if you want to update the export field options (but not the fields themselves) and want to see those changes reflected in your CareerPlug account immediately, you'll need to update your fields in ADP manually and then sync them from CareerPlug.
For this example, we will update the Hire Reason Code field options on your ADP export form.
1. In your ADP Workforce Now account, click the Setup tab and select Validation Tables from the Tools section of the drop-down menu.
2. Scroll down the Validation Tables page and click the Status Change Reasons table in the Employment Profile section (under Status).
3. Click the +Add icon in the top-left corner of the table.
4. In the Status Change Reasons drawer, select which Action should apply to the status change reason using the drop-down menu.
5. Enter an abbreviation or alphabetical code for the status change reason in the Code field.
6. Enter a descriptive name for the status change reason in the Description field.
7. Click the Done button at the bottom of the drawer.
8. In your CareerPlug account, navigate to Settings > Integrations > ADP Workforce Now and click the Sync Export Field Options button.
CareerPlug will reflect your new options the next time you export an employee's information to ADP!
