How do I deactivate an applicant?
1. Navigate to your Applicants page and find the applicant you wish to remove.
Need help finding an applicant? Click the "X" on the right edge of the Job Status: Active filter to remove it. This filter — which is on by default any time you log into CareerPlug — hides applicants from your closed, passive, and draft jobs from view.
2. Click the red thumbs-down icon to deactivate the applicant.
3. Choose a rejection reason from the Select rejection reason drop-down menu. The rejection reason is for internal use only and will not be seen by the applicant.
4. To send a rejection letter to the applicant — which we strongly recommend — turn on the Send rejection letter toggle.
5. Choose a rejection letter template from the Select template drop-down menu.
6. Click the Confirm button.
Note: Your account includes an Applicant Rejection email template by default. We recommend editing the rejection email template or creating your own to personalize the message and tailor it to your business' voice.
To edit the rejection letter template before sending it, turn on the Customize Template toggle and make any changes to the Subject and Email content.
To send your message at a later time, turn on the Schedule to send later toggle and select a Send Date and Time for the message to be sent to the applicant. The Timezone will be set to your account's default time zone.
How do I deactivate multiple applicants?
You can also deactivate applicants in bulk.
1. Navigate to your Applicants page.
2. Click the checkbox to the left of any applicants you want to deactivate.
3. Click the Deactivate button in the Bulk Actions drawer.
4. Choose a rejection reason from the Select rejection reason drop-down menu in the pop-up. The rejection reason is for internal use only and will not be seen by the applicant.
5. Click the Deactivate and Email button.
Note: You have the option to Deactivate Only without sending an email, but we strongly recommend informing applicants if you plan not to move them forward in the hiring process. Applicants tell us they would rather hear a "no" than nothing at all.
6. Choose a rejection letter template from the Select template drop-down menu.
7. Click the Confirm button.
