About the Paychex integration
With this seamless integration, new hire information will automatically export to Paychex. There’s no manual entry, fear of skipping a step, or delay in your onboarding process — only a streamlined experience to get the ball rolling with payroll and HR.
When you hire a candidate in CareerPlug, their information will be sent to Paychex, creating a user in your Paychex account. This will reduce data entry time and data entry errors, making hiring easier for you.

Paychex applicant fields
The applicant fields that will be exported to Paychex are:
- First Name
- Last Name
- Phone Number
- Employment Type
- Address
- Start Date
Getting started if you don't have a Paychex account
1. To get started, contact CareerPlug, and we’ll provide your information to Paychex.
2. A representative at Paychex will then contact you to discuss setting up your account.
Getting started if you already have a Paychex account
1. Contact CareerPlug’s Hiring Expert team via this web form and let us know that you’d like us to turn on the Paychex integration.
- Include your 8-digit Paychex Client ID.
- Contact Paychex Support if you cannot find your Client ID within your Paychex account.
2. Log into your Paychex account and navigate to Company Settings to approve CareerPlug’s access request within your own Paychex account.
3. Click the Integrated apps button.
4. Under All Applications, click Partner Applications, which will have an “Access Requested” notification.
5. Turn on the toggle for the Integration Connection (CareerPlug).
6. Click the checkbox to agree to the legal notice and then click Save. If you have any trouble enabling the integration in Paychex, reach out to Paychex Support.
The integration is now active! When you make a hire in CareerPlug, their information will automatically be sent to Paychex and a user record will be created (more info below).
Export an applicant to Paychex
To export a new hire to Paychex, first locate the applicant on your CareerPlug Applicants page. Click the Hire button if it is visible, or click the applicant’s name to move them to the Hire step of your hiring process.
Click the Hire button.
As a final step, you need to set the applicant’s start date and choose whether you want to close the job posting after making this hire. After you click Complete Hire, this new hire will appear as a user in Paychex.
To confirm that the hire was successfully exported, you can check their All Activity tab. Look for a note that states that the export to Paychex was successful.
If you need to make updates to this user, please do so in your Paychex account.
