You have the ability to transfer ownership of your entire CareerPlug account to another user within your account.

About account ownership transfers
CareerPlug accounts contain proprietary applicant data — including full names, addresses, email addresses, resume files, and even more extensive personal identifying information (PII) if onboarding data exists in the account — all of which is owned by the original account owner until a transfer of account ownership has taken place. This process provides legal data privacy protection for all parties involved and ensures a clean transfer of ownership of all account data.
Consider the following requirements before initiating the account ownership transfer process:
- A transfer of account ownership can only be initiated by the account owner.
- A transfer of account ownership is only possible when an entire account — and all locations within it — is being sold.
- We cannot transfer a single location from one account to another — a new location needs to be created in whichever account is acquiring the new location.
- A transfer of account ownership is only possible for accounts that have been previously activated by the account owner and that are in use.
- If the account you want to transfer has not been activated yet, you can simply locate your activation code and provide that to the intended account owner, as well as all login information (and only after ensuring you've scrubbed any of your personal data from your account), and then the new owner can activate the account with their information.
For Franchise Partners only: Even in arrangements involving centralized billing, an account's data is owned by the account owner since they were the party to agree to CareerPlug's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
You can only transfer account ownership to another Admin user. Full Access, Limited Access, and No Access users will not even appear in the New Owner drop-down. If you need to update a user's access level, you can do so from the Settings tab of their Profile page.
How do I transfer my CareerPlug account to a new owner?
1. Before transferring your account, you need to verify that the new owner is an Admin user in your CareerPlug account. Navigate to your Team page and check what level of Access the new owner has.
- If the new owner is not yet a user in your account, you'll need to add them as a new Admin user.
- If the new owner is already a user in your account but is not an Admin, you'll need to update their access level.
- If the new owner is already an Admin user in your account, skip to Step #2.
2. Find your own name on the Team page. Click the three-dots icon to the far right of your name and select Transfer Ownership from the drop-down.
3. Select a New Owner from the drop-down in the Transfer Ownership pop-up.
You must be the account owner to initiate an account transfer. Account ownership can only ever be transferred to another Admin user in your account.
If you have a card on file in your account, when you initiate an account ownership transfer, you will be given the option to delete your existing billing information before transferring the account.
For your own security, we recommend removing existing payment methods when transferring account ownership.
4. Select to either Keep payment type on file when transferring ownership or Remove payment type when transferring ownership.
5. Click the Send Transfer Request button.
6. You will receive an email letting you know that the account transfer has been initiated.
7. The new account owner will receive an email letting them know that a request has been made to transfer ownership of a CareerPlug account to them.
8. The next time the new account owner logs into their CareerPlug account, a pop-up will prompt them to accept the account transfer. Once they click the Accept Ownership button, they will now have owner-level access for the account.
9. After accepting ownership, new owners will be redirected to the Plan and Billing tab of their Settings to update the account's billing information. They will need to enter their credit card or ACH information, agree to the Terms of Service, and click the Save button.
If new owners want email invoices for the account sent to a different email address than the one they use to log into CareerPlug, they can enter it in the Email invoices to (Optional) field.
Can I revoke an account transfer request?
If you need to cancel an account ownership transfer request for any reason once it's been submitted, you can easily do so.
1. Navigate to your Team page.
2. Find your own name on the Team page. Click the three-dots icon to the far right of your name and select Transfer Ownership from the drop-down.
3. Click the Revoke Pending Request button in the Transfer Ownership pop-up.
Once an account ownership transfer request has already been submitted, you will not have the option to select a new owner or initiate another transfer request until the pending request has been revoked.
