Posting State Farm jobs

Posting a job is the first step to begin attracting applicants. This article will walk you through the entire process of creating a new State Farm job posting in your CareerPlug account, step-by-step. If you're a veteran and just need a reminder on a particular topic, feel free to use the links below to quickly jump to whatever section you need.

If you're a State Farm Intern, here's more information about how you can post jobs.

In this article:

Use a job template

Job templates are blueprints for job postings that will attract the type of candidates you want for a particular position.

When you want to create a new State Farm job posting, you will need to start with a State Farm-approved job template. Your account comes equipped with prebuilt job templates for eight State Farm Agent roles.

  • Account Associate
  • Account Manager
  • Customer Relations Representative
  • Financial Services Representative
  • Insurance Account Position
  • Life/Health Insurance Position
  • Marketing Manager
  • Office Manager

The title of a job template is not visible to applicants. It is for internal use only.

From your Jobs page, click the + New Job button in the upper right corner and select Use a Job Template from the drop-down menu.

Alternatively, from your Dashboard, you can click the + Create New button and select Use a Job Template from the drop-down menu.

Set hiring location and remote status

The Location you set in CareerPlug determines where (i.e., city and ZIP Code) your job is posted on job boards.

Choose a Location for your job from the Hiring Location drop-down menu.

Create New Job - Job Posting (State Farm) (12.11.25) (Location) (Hiring Location arrow)

If you don’t see any Locations available, you need to add a Location to your account first. Only Admin users can add Locations to an account.

If you need to edit your Location, click the Edit Location link.

Create New Job - Job Posting (State Farm) (12.11.25) (Location) (Edit Location highlight)

To specify that one of your jobs is a remote position, select either Temporarily RemoteFully Remote, or Hybrid from the options listed below the job's location information. If the position is not remote, simply select In person.

Create New Job - Job Posting (State Farm) (12.11.25) (Location) (Remote highlight)

To increase your job's visibility on job boards and ensure it meets requirements for remote postings, we recommend including one of the following phrases in your job description:

  • “This is a remote position”
  • “Employees will be working remotely”
  • “Remote work allowed”
  • "Will be fully remote"

5-Jan-22-2025-08-13-45-2894-AM

When you list a job as remote, it will be posted as a nationwide opportunity on job boards that support remote positions.

Job title

Job titles are what applicants will see as the name of the position when they apply for a job.

Job titles are prefilled based on the job template you select. Job titles cannot be changed.

Create New Job - Job Posting (State Farm) (12.11.25) (Job Title+Desc) (Title highlight)

Requisition ID is an internal job code that you can use for reporting purposes. It is not visible to applicants.

Why State Farm Agents cannot edit job titles

State Farm Corporate requires that all State Farm job postings use pre-approved and compliant language, which is why you cannot change the job title of your State Farm jobs. State Farm Agents who want to use CareerPlug must use State Farm-specified language for their job postings.

Having pre-approved job posting language helps ensure State Farm Agents' job postings are visible on major job boards like Indeed. Using pre-approved language also protects against compliance and legal issues.

Retired State Farm job titles

As one of Indeed's Gold ATS Partners, CareerPlug is dedicated to ensuring that jobs posted through our software meet the standards and policies set by our partner job boards. This commitment helps our clients optimize their applicant results and avoid penalties or visibility issues due to posting behavior.

To adapt to Indeed's new Job Title Variations Policy, the following job titles are no longer available to use when posting State Farm jobs in CareerPlug:

  • Administrative Assistant
  • Assistant Office Manager
  • Agent’s Executive Assistant
  • Bank Products Position
  • Financial Account Representative
  • Financial Services Administrator
  • Financial Services Position
  • Health Insurance Position
  • Insurance Staff Position
  • Long Term care Products position
  • Marketing Associate
  • Marketing Coordinator/Manager
  • Marketing Representative
  • Marketing Service Assistant
  • Office Representative
  • Registered Representative
  • Social Media Coordinator
  • Staff Assistant

Enter job description

Your job posting needs a dynamic and inviting job description. Your job description will be prefilled based on the job template you select. Personalize your job description — using the editing toolbar to format the text — to make it stand out from the competition.

Add benefits

Besides salary information, benefits are the most influential factor in a job seeker's decision to apply for a job. To ensure your job's benefits capture the attention of job seekers, we put them at the top of every job posting from CareerPlug. We strongly recommend including at least 3 benefits on every job posting.

Click to select any benefits your job offers from the listed options. Click a highlighted benefit again to remove it.

If you want to advertise additional benefits that aren't listed, you can create custom options to include in your job posting.

Enter your custom benefit in the empty field in the top-left corner of the Benefits section and click the plus (+) icon to add it to your job posting.

To avoid duplication, ensure your job description doesn't already include a Benefits section.

Set job details and salary information

Continue to configure your posting by choosing the Employment Type (full time, contract, etc.).

Adding Desired Experience (years) is recommended, as it can help with visibility on Indeed.

Create New Job - Job Posting (State Farm) (12.11.25) (Job Details) (EmpType+DesExp arrows)

Add a salary amount or range that applies. Formatting this information correctly by using the salary information fields (Pay style, Amount, Pay interval) will improve your job's visibility on the job boards.

  • Pay style - Choose between fixed (allows you to enter one amount) or ranged (requires you to add minimum and maximum amounts)
  • Amount ($) - Enter the pay amount (number only)
  • Pay interval - The interval can be per hour, day, week, month, or year

Applicants are drawn to job postings that include salary information, and many major job boards now automatically display compensation on every job, so we strongly recommend adding this information. If you don't specify salary information yourself, job boards will assign an estimated compensation to your job posting.

Nearly 20 states (and growing) now require by law that salary information be presented to job seekers. Please refer to your local state laws to maintain compliance.

When you're done configuring the Job Posting tab, click the Next Section button.

Select any prescreen questions you would like to ask your applicants by selecting from our library of pre-written questions. Applicants must answer all prescreen questions when applying for your job.

After you add a question, you can edit the status of responses by clicking the gear icon.

Create New Job - App Evaluation (State Farm) (12.11.25) (Resume+Prescreen) (Prescreen added) (Edit highlight)

Decide whether each of the responses will be scored as Auto Fast TrackFast TrackNormal, or Disqualify. If you want to easily identify your top applicants, consider using Fast Track.

  • Normal (default): This means that no matter how the applicant responds, the response is scored normally and will not be considered for Fast Track.
  • Auto Fast Track: This means that no matter how the applicant responds to other prescreen questions, if they select an Auto Fast Track response, they will automatically be considered Fast Track. This is useful if you have one key response or requirement you know you will want to move forward with in the hiring process.
  • Fast Track: This means that if the applicant chooses a Fast Track response, that person has the potential to be considered Fast Track. These applicants must correctly select all other Fast Track responses you have set up in order to be considered Fast Track.
  • Disqualify: This means that an applicant should not be considered in the hiring process if they select a Disqualify response.

When you're done editing the question, click the Save button.

Posting a State Farm job for licensed candidates

Although many Agents wish to post jobs that recruit licensed candidates only, CareerPlug does not recommend this. One reason is that the unemployment rate in the insurance industry is very low, so the likelihood of finding multiple licensed candidates is low. We want you to have a large talent pool, so we recommend making your job requirements open.

CareerPlug doesn't provide a job template for licensed candidates only. However, by using prescreen questions, you can easily identify licensed applicants by filtering your Applicants page to identify applicants with the right prescreen score and move those applicants through the hiring process as quickly as possible.

If you only want to hire licensed candidates, add the following prescreen question to your job: "Are you currently licensed?"

Licensed applicants will be marked as Auto Fast Track, and you will be notified directly after they apply. You can even send assessments automatically to Fast Track applicants.

Select assessments

You can add two assessments to your job — the Math/Verbal Aptitude Assessment and the Sales and Leadership Assessment — which you'll have the option to send to applicants.

Both toggles will be on by default. To remove either assessment from your job, click the associated toggle.

Here's what each assessment measures:

  • Math/Verbal Assessment: A 12-minute timed, test of cognitive ability that focuses on applicants' problem-solving skills, numerical skills, verbal skills, and reasoning.
  • Sales/Leadership Assessment: A personality test that focuses on sales and leadership potential.

When you're done configuring the Applicant Evaluation tab, click the Next Section button.

Looking for a candidate with a good math/verbal aptitude or one who has sales potential? Ensure you're inviting applicants to take assessments, then filter your Applicants page to view only applicants who have completed assessments.

Select posting status

The final step of creating your job is configuring the Select posting status pop-up.

In this section:

Set job post status

Set your job posting's status to ActivePending, or Careers Pages Only.

53-1

Here's an explanation of the three available job post statuses:

Active Your job will be immediately posted on your careers page and sent to external job boards. It may take up to 24 hours to appear on job boards.
Pending Choose this status if you’re not ready for the job to be posted anywhere yet, or if you want to post the job at a future date. You can find all of your Pending jobs on the Drafts tab of your Jobs page.
Careers Pages Only Your job will be created and posted on your careers page, but not sent to any external job boards. You can find all of your internal-only jobs on the Passive tab of your Jobs page.

Post job at a later date

If you're thinking about a position you need to fill in the future while you're in your CareerPlug account, you have the option to create the job now, but set it to post to job boards at a later date. Setting a job to post at a later date helps you prepare for future hiring needs.

Setting a job to post at a later date (think scheduling a job to go active in the future) also lets you set a job to post on the best days for applicant visibility — Monday through Wednesday, when job seekers are most active on the job boards — without having to log into your account on those days.

To post a job at a later date, select Pending as the job post status.

54-1

Selecting Pending will expand the Posting Status pop-up and give you the option to schedule your job to post at a later date.

Turn on the Post at a late date toggle, then click the calendar icon to select your job's posting date from the drop-down calendar.

55-1

After you click the Post Job button, the job will be saved on the Drafts tab of your Jobs page until it is posted. If you did not set a future date for your job to post, it will remain on your Drafts tab until you update it with a date or post it (by making it an Active job).

Jobs page (10.28.25) (Draft tab) (Draft post highlights)

Post job to your careers pages only

Passive jobs — sometimes called internal-only jobs — are future openings posted to your careers page but not shared on job boards like Indeed. Passive recruiting allows you to build a hiring pipeline of qualified candidates who you can reach out to when openings become available.

Passive recruiting is important. Imagine one of your A-players quits and you are unexpectedly left shorthanded. You'll scramble to write a job description and get into hiring mode while your team feels the absence. But if you’re constantly searching for A-players, fostering relationships, and building your talent pipeline, you’ll already know where to find the best candidates when your A-player quits with two weeks’ notice.

To make a passive job posting, select Careers Pages Only as the job post status.

57-1

Selecting Careers Pages Only will expand the Posting Status pop-up and give you the option to schedule your passive job to post at a later date.

Turn on the Post at a late date toggle, then click the calendar icon to select your passive job's posting date from the drop-down calendar.

58-1

After you click the Post Job button, the job will be saved on the Passive tab of your Jobs page. If you did not set a future date, your job will post to your careers page immediately. If you selected a future date, your posting will go live on your careers page on that date.

Turn job posting into a template

To speed up the job posting process the next time you’re hiring for a similar position, create a job template from this posting.

To turn your job posting into a template, turn on the Create Job Template toggle.

60-1

Post your job

When you're all done editing your job's posting status, click the Post Job button.

64-1

When you set your job to active, it may take up to 24 hours to appear on job boards. You can also immediately post your job to custom sources besides the job boards to which CareerPlug automatically sends your job. And don’t forget to share your careers page link with your network.

Share your job

After you post a job, a pop-up window will prompt you to share your job to additional sources beyond the partner job boards where CareerPlug automatically shares your jobs. Applicants from custom sources are 3x more likely to be hired than applicants from job boards, which is why we highly recommend targeting additional sources beyond the usual job boards to attract more high-quality applicants.
